Project Objectives

 The objectives of the partnership are the following:
1) to acquire basic knowledge and skills of the Latvian and Greek languages
2) to improve the knowledge and skills of English,
3) to develop and enhance the quality of intercultural dialogue between the two states,
4) to develop a cross-curriculum approach in teaching in both schools as the partnership is not specifically related to only foreign language learning, but joint study of other subjects of the curriculum - geography, history, social science, literature, art - is also planned.
5) to learn life skills and competence, like team-work, cooperation, planning, self-evaluation, necessary for the students' and teachers' personal development,
6) to do research and be aware of social and civic problems - like racism, xenophobia, prejudices, discrimination - in our society,
7) by doing voluntary work for the local community to develop a sense of initiative and altruism and help students to become active and responsible European citizens.
8) to improve students ICT skills

 The subjects/problems aimed to be addressed  are to make students:
1) aware of social injustice, discriminations, prejudices (even in their hidden forms),
2) speculate on how they can actively participate in society,
3) overcome selfishness and learn to cooperate in order to offer to community and/or to weaker groups of people(like the    aged) through volunteering.    

To achieve the aims of the Partnership :
1) we will encourage active involvement not only of the students, but also of their parents and the local authorities,
2) the activities will take place throughout the whole Partnership period (not only during the exchanges of the classes),
3) the project will be detailed in the school planning documents and timetables,
4) ongoing evaluation of the project will take place within the schools and the Partnership objectives and approaches  will be readjusted or improved when necessary.
